Avoiding the trap: Mechanisms developed by pathogens to escape neutrophil extracellular traps

چکیده
Neutrophils are the first cells of innate immune system that respond to infection by arriving at sites when pathogens have exceeded physical barriers. Among their response mechanisms against is release neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), which composed deoxyribonucleic acid and antimicrobial proteins such as elastase, myeloperoxidase, peptides, other in granules. The formation considered an effective strategy capture and, some cases, neutralize pathogenic bacteria, fungi, parasites, or viruses. However, it also known can NETs expressing virulence factors, thus evading effect these structures. These include secretion degrade scaffold, biofilms impede NETs, modification its membrane structure avoid interaction with NETs. In this review, we discuss summarize different employ one more evade NET-mediated response.

Evasion of Neutrophil Extracellular Traps by Respiratory Pathogens.
The release of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) is a major immune mechanism intended to capture pathogens. These histone- and protease-coated DNA structures are released by neutrophils in response to a variety of stimuli, including respiratory pathogens, and have been identified in the airways of patients with respiratory infection, cystic fibrosis, acute lung injury, primary graft dysfunc...
متن کاملRole of MicroRNAs in BCG Therapy by the Induction of Neutrophil Extracellular Traps in Bladder Cancer
The treatment of bladder cancer is usually performed by Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) instillation. BCG therapy is a common therapeutic method with fewer side effects compared with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, etc. BCG can also inhibit the progression and recurrence of bladder cancer by inducing apoptosis pathways, arrest cell cycle, autophagy, and neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) formatio...
متن کامل3'-nucleotidase/nuclease activity allows Leishmania parasites to escape killing by neutrophil extracellular traps.
Leishmaniasis is a widespread neglected tropical disease caused by parasites of the Leishmania genus. These parasites express the enzyme 3'-nucleotidase/nuclease (3'NT/NU), which has been described to be involved in parasite nutrition and infection. Bacteria that express nucleases escape the toxic effects of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs). Hence, we investigated the role of 3'NT/NU in Le...

Cancers prime neutrophils to release extracellular DNA traps through the systemic release of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). We recently showed that these circulating neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) promote the establishment of a pro-thrombotic state. The role of NETs in cancer biology and tumor progression may prove much more than an unfortunate side effect of cancer.

Coming soon to a doctor’s surgery near you? Hopes placed on the sequencing of ‘the’ human genome and the subsequent identification of many single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) have turned out to be misguided, as the causes of common diseases like cancer and heart disease have proven too complex to be addressed with simple SNP searches. Also, large-scale genomic differences like copy number va...
